DO NOT MANUALLY COCK OR IT WILL COCK UP!

What English is that?

I found the above phrase in this interesting Singapore website.

Don't worry, just click it, men and boys will all like it.

MRI scan before next week review

Yesterday, I went for the MRI scan that required by my medical review next week.
Before the MRI scan, the nurse has to insert an injection plug into my hand for the contrast drug injection during the MRI scan. It has been more than 2 months after my last treatment, and I have almost forgotten the pain that I have been through. Now, this reminded me of the pain again.

In the MRI room, the radiologist was a talkative guy, he asked me about the side-effects that I'm having now. I told him about my stiff neck and dry mouth. Then he suddenly said, "You better be mentally prepared, lumps on the neck may come back after sometime".

2012

During lunch time we were chitchatting about the 21 Dec 2012 doomsday prediction, and this was the first time I got to know about it. Hence I did a google and found this website.

It was rather interesting as it mentioned the Maya calendar, 易经 and other prophecies all hinted the date 21 Dec 2012 as the end of the world.

I wonder why those prophecies never predict something good and worth looking forward to.
What is the purpose of predicting something terrible and yet they have no solution to overcome it?

After all, ignorant is a blessing, the lesser you know, the happier you are.

Total Recall

I've been back to office for 2 days.
The first day, I had forgotten my computer password, needed a few attempts to get it right. My desk was accumulated with a layer of dust, even my cabinet drawers seemed more difficult to be opened. The documents and stationery inside the cabinet looked so unfamiliar to me.

Interestingly, there were quite a number of colleagues couldn't recognize me on the first sight. Some even needed a few seconds to execute his face recognition algorithm in order to figure out who was this skinny old man greeting him.

It's time to do a total recall.

Gadget for Bookworms

I'm not a bookworm, but I enjoy reading when I have nothing better to do. I used to enjoy reading Chinese novels when I was studying in secondary school, and I would like to get back the feel and enjoyment of reading.

However, I don't have the space to keep books at home, and I don't like to borrow nor rent books as I think that's rather unhygienic. Therefore, I bought this electronic book reader at US$269 through E-bay.

This book reader has a six-inch non-reflective non-backlit LCD screen, which is a special type of LCD called electronic ink. It only consume power while refreshing the screen, but it does not consume power during stationary display. Hence it could last me more than a thousand of page-flipping per full charge.

It supports 3 types of font size (i.e. Small, Medium and Large). The first picture shows the Large font size, while the picture above shows the small font size.

It could also download the current newspaper contents from the Straits Times. The non-reflective screen is really soothing to the eyes for reading pleasure. The feeling is just like reading from paper printing.

This is part of my book list. I have all my favourite books downloaded into my electronic book reader. Typically, each book only occupied about 1-2MBytes of the memory card.

The book reader supports both SD card(Grey colour) and MS-Pro Duo card(Blue colour) for MP3 music and E-Books storage.

At the bottom of the book reader, it has a headphone socket, mini-USB socket and a power charging socket.

This post is supposed to spread the "Money Spending Virus" to my friends who might be interested in an electronic book reader. However, as an honest friend, I should also give my frank view and list some of its cons here to discourage you from getting one.

1. It is not available in any of the retail shops in Singapore, hence no local warranty and after-sale support.
2. It does not come with a charger, I'm using my Sony PSP charger to charge it.
3. It does not support Chinese font out of the box. Its firmware needs to be hacked in order to read Chinese font. (I spent about 2 days to figure out the hacking process).
4. It has a very slow processor to conserve power, hence it would takes a few minutes to format the font when the first time you open a book after downloading it, or changing the size of the font. But this is just a one-time formatting process, once the book font is formatted and saved into the cache memory, you may read the book from the first page to the last page without further delay.

TC version 2

After the passed six months of treatment, finally I'm ready to go back to my normal life.

However, I feel that I'm not the previous TC anymore in terms of both physically and mentally. Physically, my body had been through a series of damaging and healing processes, there are a number of degradations which may not be fully recovered or even further deteriorate in future. They are,
1. Salivary glands damage that leads to dry mouth
2. Possibility of tooth decay and fallen tooth
3. Possibility of jaw bone death
4. Neck muscles stiffness

Mentally, I have to prepare myself for the worst case scenario that I may not live beyond 5 years from now. As such, I shouldn't get myself into any further long term commitment in life. From now on, I'm living by the day, everyday is a bonus to me. I will enjoy myself and cherish every moment with family and friends, or even being alone.

Get ready for a refurbished TC with an upgraded firmware.
